Age Calculator

Enter your date of birth to find out your exact age in years, months, and days.

People's age is counted differently in different cultures, so this calculator uses the most common age system. This system increases a person's age with each birthday. An individual who has lived for 3 years and 11 months is 3 years old, and will become 4 years old on their next birthday, one month later. Many western countries use this system.

Depending on culture, age can be expressed either by counting years or by including the current year. For instance, someone who is twenty is the same age as someone who is twenty-one. Traditionally, people are born at age 1 and their ages increase at the Chinese New Year rather than their birthdays. Two days after the Traditional Chinese New Year, if a baby is born just one day before the celebration, he/she will be 2 years old even though he or she is only two days old.

We count Feb. 20 to Mar. 20 as one month in this age calculator, but it may be confusing when the starting date is at the end of a month. We cannot calculate the age of someone between Feb. 28, 2022 and Mar. 31, 2022 in two ways. The first is by taking Feb. 28 and Mar. 31 as the end of the month, which would result in one month and 3 days. The other method would be to consider both Feb. 28 and Mar. 31 as the end of the month, which would result in one month. There is no reason to use the latter method for our calculations because both methods provide reasonable results. Similar situations exist for dates like April 30 to May 31, May 30 to June 30, etc. The confusion arises from the uneven number of days in different months.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Age Calculator

Step 1: Navigate to the Age Calculator

First, make sure you're on the Age Calculator page. You'll see the main title "Age Calculator" at the top.

Step 2: Enter Your Date of Birth

Locate the input field labeled "Date of Birth". Click on this field, and a calendar and time picker will appear. Select your exact birth date and time. For example, if you were born on January 15, 1990, at 10:30 AM, you'd input that into this field.

Step 3: Set the "Calculate Age On" Date

Next, find the input field labeled "Calculate Age On". This field determines the specific date and time for which you want to calculate the age. By default, it will automatically populate with the current date and time (which is June 15, 2025, 3:53 PM).

If you want to calculate your age as of a past or future date, simply change the date and time in this field. If you wish to reset it to the current moment, click the "Set to Now" button below the input field.

Step 4: Click "Calculate Age"

Once both fields are filled in correctly, click the prominent "Calculate Age" button.

Step 5: View Your Results

After clicking "Calculate Age," the "Age Result" box will appear, displaying your detailed age breakdown.

The results will show:

  • Your exact age in years, months, days, hours, and minutes.
  • Approximations for your age in total days, total weeks, total months, total hours, and total minutes.
  • Information about your next birthday, including the date and how many days away it is.
  • A special "Happy Birthday!" message if the "Calculate Age On" date matches your exact birth date and time.

Step 6: Clear Inputs (Optional)

If you wish to perform a new calculation, simply click the "Clear" button. This will reset both the "Date of Birth" field and set the "Calculate Age On" field back to the current date and time.

Example Calculation

Let's calculate the age of someone born on August 20, 1995, at 05:00 AM as of June 15, 2025, at 03:53 PM.

  • Date of Birth: 1995-08-20T05:00
  • Calculate Age On: 2025-06-15T15:53 (or simply click "Set to Now")

Upon clicking "Calculate Age", the result would be similar to this (exact numbers may vary slightly based on the precise current time you run it):

You are 29 years, 9 months, 25 days, 10 hours, and 53 minutes old. That's approximately 10899 total days or 1557 total weeks. And approximately 358 total months. That's also 261595 total hours or 15695753 total minutes. Your next birthday is on August 20 (66 days away).

What is My Age?

Using this chronological age calculator, you can find out what your age would be on a specific day by entering your birth date and today's date. You can also input a different end date to see what your age would be on that day. A tally of the number of days left before your next birthday or event can be found at the bottom of all age calculations.

What is the age of my child?

In order to provide someone with an estimate of their child's age, parents of newborns or infants often need to count weeks or months. The calculator automatically calculates the weeks and months of age based on the number of days entered.

You can find your newborn's age by entering their date of birth and clicking the Calculate button. The "Find Age on" boxes automatically include today's date, but you can also enter a future date. If applicable, the calculator displays your child's age in weeks and months.

Calculating age

Using this calculator, you can determine your age using two methods. One method calculates ages in years, months, and days, and also months and days. The other method calculates ages precisely in total days in order to provide you with that answer.

According to the first method, the age calculator uses 365 days to calculate age. It also makes use of a monthly average of 30.4167 days to calculate age.

Divide 365 by 12 to get the average 30.4167 days per month. The calculator then calculates the time between two dates in standard lengths.

When a teenager says he is 15 years old, he does not mean he is 12 years old plus 3 leap years old.

The age calculator also uses the same assumptions. While we know years can vary in length, we treat regular years and leap years as equal. The same goes for months, where each month has a generic duration of 30.4167 days.

For calculating the total number of days, the calculator uses a programming function that counts regular years and leap years in the time span. By converting that time span into days, the age calculator calculates your age.

Add up the total number of days to calculate age:

  • With 365 days per year, x = 365 * x plus,
  • Leap years, y, with 366 days equal to 366 * y plus,
  • Rest of the partial year's days

A partial year calculator also calculates the number of days between two dates, such as March 5 and June 7. It provides how many days have passed since your birth as well as the years, months, and days between those dates.

Age calculation

In order to calculate the difference in age or date, follow these steps:

  • Dates should be entered in the format yyyy mm dd with the older date on the bottom, as in long subtraction.
  • Calculate the number of days in the new month. If necessary, borrow one from the previous month.
  • To find the months, subtract one year, then add 12 months. If necessary, borrow one year and subtract one year.
  • Subtract the number of years.
  • You'll get a result in years, months, and days if there is an age difference

What is the number of days left until...?

It is important to take leap years into account when calculating how many days until some date or event. You also need to be aware of months with 31 days, those with 30 days, and the one month with 28 days.

The number of days in a month

MonthDays
January31
February28 (regular) / 29 (leap)
March31
April30
May31
June30
July31
August31
September30
October31
November30
December31

When you are counting the days between now and your target date, you can use a special day such as a birthday, Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July, or the beginning of your vacation. After adding the partial months, calculate how many days are left in this month and how many days are left in the partial month before your target date.

Use this Age Calculator to calculate the number of days until an event date. Enter today's date in the "Date of Birth" field, and your target date in the "Find Age on" field.

Input of dates

In the age calculator, you can enter single-digit days. If the date is less than 10, you do not have to pad it with a leading zero. You should enter the 4-digit year instead.

For example, if you enter the dates 03/15/2022 and 3/18/2022 into the calculator, you will get a total age of three days. Day 1 is the 16th, day 2 is the 17th, and day 3 is the 18th. The 15th is not counted since it is the first day of the month.

Excel Formula for Calculating Age Based on Birthdate

Excel can be used to track age or time since a date. Enter the month, day, and year in MM/DD/YYYY format in a cell and use the formula =DATEDIF(A1, TODAY(), "Y") to find the number of years since the date. The formula refers to the cell containing your date of birth or event as A1.

If you need to know how many months and days have passed since your date of birth, use this formula in another cell: =DATEDIF(A1, TODAY(), "YM"). This formula will give you the number of months and days since your date of birth. To calculate the remaining days since a date of birth, type =DATEDIF(A1,TODAY(),"MD").

You can use "CONCAT" function to string your results together like this: =CONCAT(A2, " years, ", A3, " months, ", A4, " days "). A2 refers to the year output, A3 refers to the month output, and A4 refers to the day output.

Completion age versus running age

When you are asked your age, you should consider the context, customs, or in some cases the requirements of the document you are filling out, which may include legal instructions. If uncertain, ask.

If you are required to present a particular age, you must take the number of full years since your birth date and subtract it from your completed age. If you are required to present a running age, simply multiply the completed age by one. In a nutshell, that's all there is to it.

At what age was I on a particular date?

Using the "Calculate age on" field, it is possible to calculate an individual's age. If you enter your birth date into the first field and the games' starting date into the second, the calculator will calculate the age you were at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. In 1985, you would have been 27 years old, or 9970 days old, if you were born April 10, 1985.

How old will you be when you turn a certain age?

With the "Calculate age on" field, you can easily calculate your age based on any future date you specify. For example, you might want to know what your age will be in 2030, 2040, 2050, 2060, etc. Those born in 1980 will be 50 years old in 2030, 60 years old in 2040, and so forth. For example, someone born in 1994 will be 46 in 2040.

To calculate your complete age by the end of the year of interest, enter 31/12/YYYY. To determine your running age at that time, enter 01/01/YYYY. In these examples, it is assumed that you weren't born on January 1 or December 31.

How many days have I lived?

When you enter your date of birth and click the button, it will show how long you have been alive. On March 04, 2025, someone born on Jan 1, 1988 would be 37 years, 2 months, and 3 days old.

How old is who or what?

A Pearson age calculator can also be used to calculate the age of someone or something. For instance, you can use it to determine Mariah Carey's age. If you want to know whether someone will be fifty when you are, for instance, you can specify a date in the future.

As well as a refrigerator, a house, or a car, this method can be used to determine their age. If you enter September 17, 1787 into the "birth date" field, you will receive an answer within seconds. Alternatively, you can use it to find out how old an organization or company is.
